The St. Louis chapter of planting shade was created in July of 2021 by Nathan Goldstein and Ben Horwitz. Planting Shade St. Louis has already planted 1000 trees logically and plans to plant 1000 more by spring of 2023.
The St. Louis chapter has partnered with a variety of clubs and nonprofit organizations, Ladue’s Student Action for a Greener Earth club (SAGE), The Open Space Council, Missouri Stream Team, and local national honor societies. Planting Shade St. Louis has planted in a variety of locations, varying from planting at the local school district to the garden at the Restorative Justice Movement in North County, St. Louis. The chapter also distributed saplings at a local Earth Day festival with Missouri’s USGBC and their green school’s challenge.
