Planting Shade's Mission

Our mission is to increase the planting and growth of trees and tree canopy throughout the world. We work locally with nurseries and distributors to give citizens greater access to seedlings and planting techniques so that they can plant and grow trees of their own. A nonprofit is as strong as the community that holds it up. Together we can do more. Let's bring our abilities and passions together to affect real change.

Why Trees?

Tree Canopy (or leaves) is essential to our collective ecosystem, helping maintain a sustainable balance over the environment. Increasing the amount of tree canopy in an area, even at a small scale can have a barrage of positive effects. The benefits of planting trees are overwhelming, from their ability to raise an area's property value, to attract businesses, shoppers and homeowners. Tree shade, when used effectively, can also save an average of $250 annually in household electricity costs. Trees are also integral to lowering the flooding rates by fighting back against erosion. Planting Trees helps nature and us, so why not give back?

How Planting Shade is Different

Planting Shade focuses on making the maximum positive effort to change our community. Every seedling caretaker provides the momentum that helps us affect change. By working with city officials, we provide solutions that make a long-lasting difference. Seeing a need for energetic, nonprofit work in planting trees, Planting Shade provides a sensible means of distributing and planting seedlings. We have consistently worked hard and expanded in size each year.
