The Knoxville chapter of Planting Shade was started in early 2023, and plans to plant 1000 trees by the end of 2024. During this time, they also hope to educate local youth about the environment, cultivating the next generation of naturalists.

Yunpeng Tan, a junior at Farragut High School in Knoxville, TN, assumed the role of Chapter President from his brother, Boyu Tan, the chapter's founder. He will carry on the mission of safeguarding Tennessee's local habitats through planting trees and educating the public
